This service will start in the Surbiton area.  The High Street, Maple Road, River Roads will be the main meeting points.

This is a one to one library service – if you want to give the book away that’s fine too but doesn’t necessarily encourage sales of books.  The idea is to connect people’s bookshelf as if it were a virtual library.

1. Write a comment on my blog post or send me an email by going to the Join Now tab – you will become a collaborator on this website.

2. My bookshelf will be the starting library so the more people join, the more books there will be.

3. The books on your bookshelf will be introduced through this website.

4. Write the title, author and select the category and post a blog.  If the book is available on Amazon paste the link of the book.  If this sounds all too complicated, just send me an email with the the information and I will create a post for you on this website.

5. Look for books you may want to read from other people’s bookshelves

6. Arrange a meeting point to borrow books – it will have to be an equal exchange.  i.e. if you are borrowing one book, you have to lend one book, if you are borrowing two, you have to lend two and so forth.  The value of the book does not have be equal as this is a library service, not sales.  The term of loan can be agreed by both parties.

7.  Have a coffee or pint and discuss about your books at your local hangout. Make more new friends locally through books!

This is a very interesting idea, sharing your book collection can be considered as sharing your knowledge. some might argue that it may violate personal privacy but i think the thought of the big amount of knowledge shared using this system idea will take care of that matter.

If you’re interested i might have something that could enhanced this idea. please have a look at my article on

    http://sayamobile.wordpress.com/2010/05/18/find-your-twitter-friends-around-using-ar/

we can use the same concept as mentioned in the article, we make a layer that shows people that shared their book connection and maybe add some interaction between member feature, so it might become some sort of social networking based on sharing their book collection
